Knowledge-Based Production Assistance Based on Image- and Sensor-Based Externalization of Tacit Knowledge

On September 18, 2024, our first consortium meeting for the WisPE project finally took place in person! After numerous virtual meetings, it was great to see the project partners face to face.

As part of the WisPE project, we are developing a knowledge-based production assistance system that builds on the image- and sensor-based externalization of tacit knowledge. The focus is on a human-centered design: the goal is not only to capture employees' interactions but also to make them intuitively and efficiently usable in order to seamlessly transfer knowledge.

In the context of demographic change and a shortage of skilled workers in production, we aim to support new employees in benefiting quickly and easily from the experiences of their more experienced colleagues. The automated capture and transfer of tacit knowledge is intended to foster a culture of learning and collaboration.

The WisPE project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), co-financed by ESF-Plus, and supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). We are involved as an application partner in integrating the developments into the assembly process.

Change in Management at WS Wieländer+Schill

A breath of fresh air is coming to the leadership team at WS Wieländer+Schill in the new year.

After 17 years, Dr. Norbert Lay is leaving the company and entering a well-deserved retirement. He is passing on his responsibilities to Stephan Paschke. Together with Manfred Bäurer, he will continue to lead the company in the future.

Furthermore, Thorsten Herfort will join the ownership structure.

We look forward to a continued strong representation of WS Wieländer+Schill and bid farewell to an impressive colleague and managing director, saying THANK YOU for a great time.
